Lake Helen is home to six parks, 2 that include lakes that offer plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors.

Lake Helen is dedicated to the preservation and maintenance of its lakes. Our namesake ‘Lake Helen’ and Lake Macy are among the largest lakes in the City. The remaining lakes vary in size from a few acres to less than one acre in area.

Our community recognizes our responsibility in continuing stewardship of these vital resources. Healthy lakes and their shores provide us with numerous environmental benefits, influence our quality of life, and strengthen our economy. They replenish groundwater, preserve biodiversity, and provide us with opportunities for recreation, tourism, and residential living. Our namesake is especially respected for its historical value to the community.

Lake Helen Public Works strives to maintains safe, functional, and attractive parks and facilities including playgrounds, picnic facilities, pavilions, multipurpose sports fields and courts, and lighted tennis courts. We also provide family-oriented, community events.

Mitchell Brothers Sports Complex encompasses three baseball/ softball fields and a practice field; viewing stands; announcers’ booth; concession stand; restroom facilities; and playground area.

The City of Lake Helen Little League and surrounding city leagues use the fields on a continuous basis during the baseball season. On the east end of the complex is a wooded trail extending from Ohio Avenue to Kicklighter Road that is used by Volusia Pines Elementary school children, bicyclists and avid community trail walkers/hikers.
